India’s Jaspreet Bumrah has set a world record by scoring 35 runs in one over by Stuart Broad. Redark, who scored the most runs in an over in a Test, previously held former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara.
The Caribbean legend congratulated the Indian fast bowler for capturing Lara’s record Bumrah.
Broad’s first ball was four off India’s Jaspreet Bumrah in the Edgbaston Test on Saturday (July 2).
The English fast bowler gave five runs including wide in the next ball. Bumrah hit a six after saying no.
Bumrah also took four in the second, third and fourth balls.
The Indian fast bowler hit another six off the fifth ball and took one run off the last ball.
In 2003, Brian Lara scored 26 runs in one over by Robin Petersen in Johannesburg.
Bumrah broke Lara’s record after 19 years. The Caribbean legend also greeted Bumrah.
In a congratulatory tweet, Lara wrote,
‘Join me to greet young Jaspreet Bumrah.
He broke the record for most runs in an over in Test history. Well right. ‘
Australia’s George Bailey is at number three in the list after Bumrah-Lara.
He scored 26 runs against James Anderson in 2013. South Africa’s left-arm Keshab Maharaj is in the four.
He scored 26 runs in the 2020 Port Elizabeth Test against Joe Root.
Incidentally, in the Edgbaston Test,
India scored 418 runs in the first innings under the magic of Rishav Pant and Rabindra Jadeja.
England is in danger of batting in reply.
At the end of the second day,
England scored 74 runs for 5 wickets, with Johnny Bairstow and Ben Stokes at the crease.🔱
